THIS KID IS OVERQUALIFIED FOR SEC. OF DEFENSE. I HEARD HIS BULLYING RECORDS WERE SHREDDED. IF THIS WAS A PILOT FOR A REALITY SHOW IT WOULD BE TURNED DOWN AS “unrealistic” OR SOMETHING. FOLKS, YOU CANNOT, CANNOT MAKE THIS STUFF UP. THIS IS THE RESULT OF 50 YEARS OF JUNK CULTURE. WHAT DID YOU THINK, YOU WERE GOING TO GET TEDDY ROOSEVELT AND HARRIET BEECHER STOWE?
Funny that you would mention Teddy Roosevelt.
I read a book about him last summer and was amazed at his childhood and youth . . . the Roosevelt Museum of Natural History, boxing, his time at Harvard (including more boxing and rowing, his time in the badlands and during war, his presidency . . .
Although, his record on racial issues is puzzling. He dishonorably discharged a group of black soldiers that fought alongside him in the Spanish American War (they were later pardoned by Nixon) but then he invited Booker T. Washington to dinner at the White House.
Undoubtedly we don’t have many men (or women) with the background of Roosevelt. Time described him like this: “a Nobel prizewinner, a physical culturalist, a naval historian, a biographer, an essayist, a paleontologist, a taxidermist, an ornithologist, a field naturalist, a conservationist, a big-game hunter, an editor, a critic, a ranchman, an orator, a country squire, a civil service reformer, a socialite, a patron of the arts, a colonel of the cavalry, a former Governor of New York, the ranking expert on big-game mammals in North America and the President of the U.S.”
His life is absolute amazing. I would encourage all to read about him.
Obviously, Harriet Beecher Stowe has a colorful history as well; although I have to admit that I don’t know as much about her as Teddy Roosevelt.
This is what Lincoln supposedly said to Harriet Beecher Stowe during their introduction, “So you’re the little woman who wrote the book that made this great war!”
While she’s no Harriet Beecher Stowe, little Sarah Palin is also causing quite the “war.”
