After months of refusing to comment on the public speculation about their relationship, actress Lindsay Lohan and DJ Samantha Ronson finally publicly confirmed their relationship in a L.A. radio call-in show last night, in a short, casual exchange confirming that they’ve been together “a very long time.”
Lohan and Ronson called into the radio show Loveline last night to chat with DJ Ted Stryker about DJ AM’s recent survival of a plane crash that killed four other passengers.
In wrapping up the conversation, Stryker casually asked Lindsay on air, “Now, you guys, you and Samantha have been going out for how long now? Like two years? One year? Five months? Two months?” Lohan responded, “A long…a very long time.”
“I hope you guys stay together, you’re a very lovely looking couple,” Stryker added, to which Lindsay replied, “Thank you very much.”

It looks like the plane crash that injured Travis Barker and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein and killed 4 others was perhaps a wake up call to Lindsay that life can be short and that there are far too many things to worry about other than what people think of you.
I don’t think that Lindsay has ever denied that she was in a relationship with Samantha, but she also never made any public confirmation of a relationship either. Lindsay has been choosing to live her life openly and has commented that “people can think what they want. I’m really happy, and that’s all that matters.” Unfortunately while this should be all that matters, in this 24/7 media saturated world we live in the tabloids and bloggers, etc. won’t allow this to be all that matters, so they continue to follow Lindsay and Samantha’s every move.
It is perhaps this reason coupled with Lindsay’s statement following the plane crash that “It’s so scary to think that life can end so fast – we must treasure each and every moment and be thankful for what we have”… that has Lindsay feeling more comfortable with open displays of affection and admitting that she and Samantha are together… after all when life can change so quickly why not live your life openly and happily without caring about what anyone may or may not say about it?
It just takes way too much work to hide who you are and that can really take a toll on your life, so while you don’t have to shout any proclamations from the rooftops or actually say “I’m gay” just living your life without worrying about other peoples reactions speaks volumes in and of itself!

Lovely Spouse and I have found that if you’re honest, open, happy and healthy about your sexual orientation, you will experience great rewards and little negative reaction. Of course, we don’t want to divert from the fact that many forms of discrimination still happen to many LGBT Americans. In fact, many teens are still thrown out of their homes when they attempt to be open about who they really are and many Americans have lost their jobs. But in any event we’ve found the most happiness when we’ve been open.

Thank you for the article. Honestly, Lindsay having the guts to turn her back on her PR people and her dad is a really big deal. I think she jumped on the chance coz her PR people were not with her. It was casual it was quick. I think that’s how she always wanted it to be. And yes I agree, I think she did come out as a lesbian because she admitted they have been together for a long time. I think most of those guys were beards. And her rep has now issued a statement saying she didn’t come out but to me that’s just PR people trying to protect their client. That’s their job. I can’t imagine they are too happy about it. But now I don’t think they have that much power over her now anyway.
Go Lindsay and Sam!
Well, I can’t say Sam is much of a looker but they seem to be really happy together! Admire them for coping with all the intrusion! 🙂
