Okay, so it hasn’t happened yet but we know that it’s going to.  But how is Palin going to get out of that debate?  We have it!  Yes, we have the perfect “dog ate my paper” excuse.

Of course, rational people will not believe this story but Sarah, rational people already know that you lie more than a rug.  So don’t worry about them.

Sarah – here is your out.   We know that you have Dr. Cathy Baldwin-Johnson who will say whatever you need to get out of this Biden debate on Thursday.  We also know that you’re a mastermind in coming up with pregnancy-related decisions.

So, I’m thinking that Bristol has just been diagnosed by Cathy Baldwin-Johnson as having preterm labor caused by or complicated by (the doc will have to figure that out) high blood pressure.  Everyone knows that pre-eclampsia is serious business and requires 24 hour care.

Hey, I know this because Lovely Spouse had pre-eclampsia with Little Man.

Obviously, in light of Bristol’s pre-term labor and pre-eclampsia her mother will be needed.  In fact, Palin will not be able to debate Thursday because she has to make sure Bristol is on complete bedrest and Sarah Palin will have to:

Do 24 hour urine collections on Bristol – to estimate total protein.  Protein in the urine is a bad sign – I don’t remember why but I think Bristol should have lots of it.  Check with the doc before you do the press release.

Do 4-6 hourly blood pressure checks on Bristol – BP in pre-eclampsia can go up & down very quickly.   You might want to come to the press conference wearing a BP cuff thingy slung around your neck.   Or you could just be seen in Wal-Mart frantically buying one.

If you don’t want to go with the Bristol early-labor, you could have some sort of medical emergency involvig Trig or Todd could have a heart-attack . . . I’m sure that you and the doc will come up with something.  Good Luck!

This is going to be so much fun to watch!

McCain personally called David Letterman to cancell at the last minute because Senator McCain was “racing back to Washington.”  That, however, didn’t happen. In his show to air tonight, Letterman shows footage of McCain sitting down a few blocks away from his studio with CBS’s Katie Couric for an interview at the same time he was supposed to be on his show.

David Letterman says he respects and loves John McCain.   “But when you call at the last minute and cancel . . . this is not the John McCain I know.”

Says McCain shouldn’t quit should let us VP shoulder campaign . . . what’s the problem Letterman asks?  Says, “this doesn’t smell right.  This is not the way a tested hero behaves.”

Dave asks, “Where is McCain’s second string quarterback?”

Suspending because of economic crisis or because he’s slipping in the polls, Letterman asks.   Letterman then showed a live feed of McCain getting make-up in Katie Couric’s studio instead of “racing to the airport.”

Letterman took a call from McCain in which McCain claimed he had to race to DC in order to save the country . . . yet, there he was with Katie Couric.

The show will air tonight, September 24, 2008.

AFTER THE JUMP:  DRUDGE EXCLUSIVE: LETTERMAN MOCKS MCCAIN CANCELLATION

“The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) is moving forward with its plan for the first presidential debate at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. this Friday, September 26. The plans for this forum have been underway for more than a year and a half. The CPD’s mission is to provide a forum in which the American public has an opportunity to hear the leading candidates for the president of the United States debate the critical issues facing the nation. We believe the public will be well served by having all of the debates go forward as scheduled.”

From National Review blow by blow of Obama’s response to McCain’s desperate attemt to use economic crisis as political stunt.

Obama sounds reasonable and less gimmicky than McCain.

He says that there is no reason why we can’t do more than one thing at once. Obama says it is “more important than ever” to have a debate.

Obama says he called McCain this morning and announced that he wanted to do a no-politics-as-usual joint statement about addressing the market mess. He says that McCain wanted to insist on meeting with the president and congressional leaders too. Obama says Obama said: Let’s do the statement, go from there. Obama says he thought McCain was thinking about the joint statement, working on with staff, when McCain went on TV. So now Obama is on TV. and goes on about how presidents need to be able to multitask.

Obama says he’s told Pelosi, Reid, and Paulson that “if I can be helpful, I am prepared to be [in dc] anytime” but I don’t want to infuse presidential politics on the hill

Obama may win this campaign moment yet. If McCain protests, he looks petty.

What a sham.   McCain puts the country first by using the crisis as a political ploy to garner support.  Lame – very lame.     The guy knows ZIP about this and obviously isn’t needed in Washington to resolve the financial / economic crisis.  He might as well send Sarah Palin.  No one in the country, especially the Senators who know him, have turned to John McCain for a solution to the problem.

The news accounts are all the same regarding the true facts.  Obama  called McCain this morning suggesting a bipartisan front through a joint statement.   Later McCain agreed to the joint statement, then on a day when he’s falling in the polls, McCain turns around and pulls this desperate political stunt.   If he really wanted Obama to  cancel the debate he had an opportunity earlier in the day to talk to Obama privately.   Instead, he throws this desperate hail Mary and in doing so he shows what a political whore he really is.

McCain has turned into scum.  What happened? He is a disgrace.
