My in-laws love Sarah Palin because “she lives close to Russia and has more executive experience than anyone running.”  And, yes Virginia, they do watch FOX News 24-7.    However, they’ve apparently forgotten that they hate John McCain.  Only a few months ago we heard them yelling and screaming about turncoats like John McCain and Chuck Hagel, those terrible evil Republicans who will do or say anything to get on a Sunday talk show.

Now they love the McCain + Token ticket.  I’m sure that they will vote early and often for the pair.  I can only shake my head and wonder why they don’t listen to or read anything except FOX.  If so maybe they would read what folks in Alaska are saying about Palin.  Folks like the president of the Alaska senate, a woman who is a Republican and every bit if not more qualified than Sarah Palin.   More importantly, she is someone who has worked with Palin and who actually knows her.

In fact, my in-laws might even find The Ancourage Daily News.  The paper has a story that is a must read for all voters, Choice stuns state politicians.”   I’ll tell our readers about it since my in-laws are too busy watching FOX to even glance at any alternative sources of information.    By the way, I love to watch FOX News.  It is one of the most entertaining television shows on.   I don’t believe a word of what they say but it’s amusing to watch their dog and pony show.

Back to the Alaska article, most shocking are the statements of State Senate President and Republican, Lyda Green, who said she thought it was a joke when someone called her at 6 a.m. to give her the news.

Palin, center, as Republican Senate President Lyda Green and House Speaker John Harris, R-Valdez, look on.

Green said, “She’s not prepared to be governor. How can she be prepared to be vice president or president? Look at what she’s done to this state. What would she do to the nation?”

So who is Green and why should we care what she thinks of Sarah Palin?   Green has lived in Sarah Palin’s Wasilla since 1984.    She and her husband Curtis have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.

She has been a state senator since 1995, is the chair or co-chair of many important committees in the Senate.    Green is active in Palmer First Baptist Church, is a former PTA/PTO school volunteer, former member and president of the Mt. McKinley Lioness Club, former chair of the Miners and Trappers Ball, a life member of the NRA, belongs to the Wasilla Sunrise Rotary, and the Palmer Lion’s Club.

Green is also a cancer survivor and the person at the center of another Plain controversey.   On January 15, Palin laughed along with an Alaskan shock-jock DJ who called Green “cancer,” a “bitch” and ridiculed her weight.   You can listen to the radio exchange between Palin and the shock-jock in this video:

What happened after the radio show?  Well, Green told that story to US Magazine, “People were so nice and were mortified. Newspapers that were never Lyda Green-friendly, they demanded that [Sarah] apologize,” Green told

“You know what she said? She said, ‘I’m calling to apologize. I hope you didn’t misunderstand the radio program,'” Green says. “I told her, ‘I didn’t misunderstand.'”

The Alaska state senator added, “It’s not a good way to behave. Why would anybody call a shock jock?”

So what did Green think when she heard Palin was McCain’s pic, “It’s been very difficult to work with her.  I wish there had been more vetting.”

Yes, Senator Green, so do we.
