I Googled Sarah Palin cringe in Google News and found 198 news articles.   Click on the image below to enlarge and you’ll see that some news articles point out Palin’s quick decline among conservative writers.

My favorite news headline from Kathleen Parker’s story glares from Google:  “FEMALE CONSERVATIVE COLUMNIST TO PALIN:  Please Leave the Race.”   Apparently her “cringe reflex is exhausted.”

Finally, some conservatives and Republicans are starting to peak out of the closets and into the streets about what they really think of Sarah Palin.

Lovely Spouse and I are on a trip (Lesbian Jewish Wedding Reception) that I intend to blog about but had to drop in a post about Palin’s horrible diction.

I’m from an area of the country where sometimes you can barely tell that we’re speaking English so I get the idea of having relaxed speech on my blog & among friends and family.  I drop my “ings,” repeatedly say the word “cool,” and have to catch myself so I don’t say I-talian.

But when I’m talking to an applicant for a job, or talking to a client, I do my very best not to show where I came from because it makes a person sound less than intelligent.  In addition, the forcefullness of the message is diluted.   Of course, Sarah Palin doesn’t have a message but that’s another post.

On our drive yesterday this subject came up and the first thing I said was, “Sarah Palin’s manner of speaking is appauling.”  She sounds like she’s down at the corner diner having coffee with “the Elite 6.”  Does the woman have no common sense?   Is she ignorant of the correct way to pronounce words?  Does she not care?  Does she think it makes her more appealing as a candidate for VP?

Anyway . . . finally some conservatives and Reblicans are coming out of the closet about Sarah Palin.

Here’s one example:

But apparently much of America is willing to vote for her based on her looks. The GOP better hope so. She sure isn’t going to win based on her brains.

We got a hint of that during her supposedly brilliant acceptance speech at the GOP convention. In the midst of the predictable diatribe at the media, Palin denounced pundits. That’s fine, but she pronounced the word “pundints,” adding a nonexistent “n” to the second syllable.

My fellow conservatives made fun of Sean Penn last year when he employed that same mispronunciation as part of a tirade against the Bush administration. And deservedly so. We conservatives are smart. People who can’t pronounce simple, two-syllable words aren’t.

That goes for simple three-syllable words as well. In a televised interview with Fox News last week, Palin was served a softball question by Sean Hannity about the economy. In her response, she twice attacked the “verbiage” of her opponents. And in both cases, she pronounced it “verbage,” leaving out the second syllable.

Again this is the sort of thing that, if done by a Sean Penn or some other Hollywood airhead, would be held up as evidence of inferior intelligence.

Here it is – word for word – the latest post from Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson on Linday’s MySpace Blog. Not only do they slam Sarah Palin in detail, they also talk about the “Love Won Out Conference” being sponsored by Palin’s church. Yes, they are going to pray away the gay in Alaska.

Bent Alaska had a little blurb about the “conference”:

“Programs like Love Won Out are dangerous for kids and divisive for families,” said PFLAG National executive director Jody M. Huckaby. “Every bit of evidence available suggests that children who grow up in homes that accept them – and not try to change them – are far happier and healthier than those subjected to these anti-family tactics. It is nothing short of extremist to imply that families should do anything other than love their children as they are, and nothing short of outrageous to infer that LGBT kids aren’t fine just the way they are.”

UH OH!
Current mood: shocked

I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin.

I couldn’t be more supportive of a woman in office, but let’s face it, it comes down to the person, and their beliefs, male or female.

Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?

I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States, only 4 years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor. Which is probably all she is qualified to be… Also interesting that she got her passport in 2006.. And that she is not fond of environmental protection considering she’s FOR drilling for oil in some of our protected land…. Well hey, if she wants to drill for oil, she should DO IT IN HER OWN backyard. This really shows me her complete lack of real preparation to become the second most powerful person in this country.

Hmmmm-All of this gets me going-Fear, Anxiety, Concern, Disappointment, and Stress come into play…

Is our country so divided that the Republicans best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?

I know that the most important thing about this election is that people need to exercise their right to vote, regardless of their choice… I would have liked to have remained impartial, however I am afraid that the “lipstick on a pig” comments will overshadow the issues and the fact that I believe Barack Obama is the best choice, in this election, for president…

Palin’s Desire to “save and convert the gays”-really??

According to this Associated Press story, the church of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is hosting a kind of conference devoted to the “conversion of Gays” — no kidding.

Here’s the AP text:

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) ? Gov. Sarah Palin’s church is promoting a conference that promises to convert gays into heterosexuals through the power of prayer.

You’ll be encouraged by the power of God’s love and His desire to transform the lives of those impacted by homosexuality,” according to the insert in the bulletin of the Wasilla Bible Church, where Palin has prayed since she was a child.

Palin’s conservative Christian views have energized that part of the GOP electorate, which was lukewarm to John McCain’s candidacy before he named her as his vice presidential choice. She is staunchly anti-abortion, opposing exceptions for rape and incest, and opposes gay marriage and spousal rights for gay couples.

I feel it’s necessary for me to clarify that I am not against Sarah Palin as a mother or woman.

Women have come a long way in the fight to have the choice over what we do with our bodies… And its frightening to see that a woman in 2008 would negate all of that.

Oh, and…Hint Hint Pali Pal- Don’t pose for anymore tabloid covers, you’re not a celebrity, you’re running for office to represent our, your, my COUNTRY!

And in the words of Pamela Anderson, “She can suck it”..

Lindsay- “I have faith that this country will be all that it can be with the proper guidance. I really hope that all of you make your decisions based on the facts and what feels right to you in your heart-vote for obama!”

Samantha- “I love this country- however i wasn’t born here and don’t have the right to vote- so i beg of you all to really do your research and be educated when you cast your vote this coming november…. and if you’re in doubt- vote for obama! Mainly because if she gets elected my green card probably won’t get renewed!!!”

Obama for President 2008 Portrait Keychain

Too bad that we didn’t get a chance to take all of our children to the 2008 Values Voters Summit.  The values on display were  . . .  interesting.

In the fervor surrounding the McCain – Palin presidential ticket, ‘values voters’ concoct ‘Obama Waffles’ in an effort to rally the conservative base to reject Barack Obama. The question is: is it in good taste?

The McCain / Palin campaign is now on the 3rd version of Palin’s visit to “Iraq.” Yesterday, the McCain campaign released a second official version of Palin’s ONLY trip outside of North America. The second version claimed that Sarah Palin’s visit to Iraq in 2007 consisted of a brief stop at a border crossing between Iraq and Kuwait.

Strangely enough, the singer Pink seems to have predicted this one.  Note in the story below that Pink wants Palin to point out Iraq on a map . . . and looks like Palin might have a hard time doing that since she and the McCain campaign can’t figure out if Plain was there or . . . maybe not.

When she was first selected as McCain’s VP running mate, it was claimed that Palin has traveled to Ireland, Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq to meet with members of the Alaska National Guard. They also specifically claimed that during the trip, Plain visited a “military outpost” inside Iraq.

The McCain campaign has continued to the claim that Palin was in an Iraq battle zone . . .

until the third version was released just today . . .

SARAH PALIN WAS NEVER IN IRAQ. She never ventured beyond Kuwait border.

The sick joke continues.

Note:  This post was delayed 24 hours because “someone” had my account frozen while WordPress checked on some images from the church with the, “I kissed a girl, then I went to hell” sign.

I’m also re-thinking my re-thinking of Palin.  Extreme right-wing Christian nuts should just stay in their houses and pray for sinners like me.  We’d all be much happier.

So during the last 24 hours I have not been able to post anything I have been using my spare time getting straight Christian girls to kiss me . . . and they liked it.

Here is the post in question minus the “offending” images.  And yes, I agree the entire thing is quite offensive.   Wonder who on Earth had a problem with my post?

Well, just don’t ever use images from a church website – even if there is no copywrite notice on them.  Churches don’t want to get the word out about their services – it’s all so secret you know.

I stayed up way too late last night and will admit that as a result I could be like the gay In-a-Fog Cabin Republicans.   But this has been bothering me all day.  Is it possible that we’re wrong?

First, I’ll point out the obvious.  Democrats always reexamine their positions and rarely think in terms of black and white.  That’s why Republicans can do such a good job of staying on message.  But my qualms about the Sarah Palin thing seem a little beyond that.

Oh, I don’t know.

I’m shaking my head as I type this.   From what I can ascertain Sarah Palin has no knowledge of US foreign policy so she isn’t someone that I could vote for, there is just no way.   On the other hand, when I put her against the experience of Obama, I’m really not sure that he’s that much better.   Of course, I doubt that he would shoot and skin a puppy for breakfast . . .  And then again, there was a time when a man named Howard Dean impressed me with his vigor and new way of approaching politics.

Palin just seems so extreme.   Do the majority of Republicans really think that if a pre-teen girl is raped that the government should force the child to have the baby; even if her family doesn’t want her to have the baby?  What if the rapist is her father?  The government should make these personal decisions for families and their children?  No, reasonable people really don’t think that but Sarah Palin does and that’s not reasonable to me.

Do the majority of Republicans really think that Sarah Palin is ready to take over as president should she be called to do so as a VP?  No, they really don’t.   No doubt they are just as tired of what they see as Democrat antics as I am of Republican games, tricks, double speak, divide and benefit.

Likewise, I don’t think Obama is really that ready either.  But I do think that Obama is more likely to bring us together as a country than is McCain.   I was bracing myself for Obama to pick a VP that would be selected for political reasons.   I was so relieved when he instead picked someone with the type of experience that’s needed to deal with the many diplomatic issues and outside threats that we face.  McCain, he just went for the vote.   And, no matter how much I try to see the other side, I have a really hard time with that.

Strangely enough when I came home from work today I learned that Sally Quinn has expressed some doubts regarding her own initial reaction to Sarah Palin.  I’ll give you a link for the video here in a second.

Right now I just want to reflect and ramble a little further on what all of this means.  I feel confident that Palin is not ready and I feel confident that McCain has no new ideas to take us forward and that his first chance to show leadership and judgment was thrown away to buy votes.  Yet, that is the American way, isn’t it?

Obama is still a big question mark for me.  Instead of digging up dirt on Sarah Palin, tonight I think I’ll spend more time getting to know Obama.   If I would have voted for Howard Dean, I can’t claim that my negative reaction to Sarah Palin is all about experience.  And, why didn’t I take any pleasure in seeing the first woman selected by a major party to run as VP?  What was that all about?   Am I just as glazed over, gulping down the grape koolaid as my Fox News in-laws?   Or have the Republican tactics of using issues like marriage equality left me so bitter that I can’t think “straight?”

I’m tired, really tired.  Didn’t sleep one minute last night.  Better save this thinking for later.
