Lesbians To Lindsay: Thanks, But No Thanks

NEW YORK (CAP) – Much has been made in the tabloids of celebrity party girl Lindsay Lohan’s alleged romantic relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, 30. But several prominent gay organizations are asking that, for the sake of lesbians, women and the world in general, she go back to being straight, and quickly.

“Frankly, this is the last thing we need,” said Berta Friedrich, director of communications and marketing for the National Gay Task Force, Lesbian Division. “It’s been five years and we’ve only just barely recovered from the whole Britney-Madonna kiss thing.”

Jodie Foster has never been the subject of a gay movement asking her to go straight but maybe that’s because unlike the brave Lindsay, Foster played straight until she was way long in the tooth.

Yes, she waited until just before she dumped her long-time spouse to make that one tiny reference at a public event.   In December of 2007, after 15 years and two kids together, Foster finally made reference to her own lovely spouse.  Then less than 5 months later – Jodie dumped Cydney for a younger woman

Jodie and Lindsay were both very prominent child actors for Disney.  One has been respected and one is continually slapped around.  Right now, our respect goes to Lindsay.    Although we agree with Jodie that Lindsay’s momma has some ‘splainin to do and who knows where that freaky parenting may eventually leave Lindsay.

We do see that a Sam and Lindsey Support Center has been established to help the young couple (oops wrong Sam and Lindsey – hey, but it’s a good idea).

The Advocate also has a recent article about the media’s handling of the latest public Lesbo Duo, here’s part:

Sheila McClear of Gawker.com argued in a post last month (“Why Lindsay Lohan Is a Gay Hero”) that Lohan’s casual openness is revolutionary because it treats her same-sex relationship the same as her straight ones. She writes: “Here’s what’s cool: Lohan has been entirely matter-of-fact about the whole affair. She’s continued to appear in public with her rumored lover. There has been no moaning from her about private-life intrusion from the media, and no cries from her cougar mom to `Leave Lindsay ALONE!’ ”
